... at the RiesCraterMuseum Nördlingen!
The museum is opens again on Wednesday, 26.05.2021. We are looking forward to your visit!
About 15 million years ago an asteroid with one kilometre size collided with Earth.
The result of this cosmic encounter is the Nördlinger Ries, a prominent circular basin in the Swabian-Franconian Alb. The 25 km large impact crater is one of the best preserved large craters on earth. The ejecta blankets that formed during the impact, the Suevite and the Bunte Breccia, are easily accessible at the surface and already served the Apollo-astronauts as training area for their missions to the moon.
Visit the museum and follow the traces of the astronauts!
